Complete Customer Support Guide

Dealing with unexpected power outages, defective meters, or incorrect electricity bills can be stressful. To ensure that consumers in the Gujranwala Electric Power Company (GEPCO) region get swift resolutions, multiple complaint registration channels are available. Whether you prefer calling a toll-free number, visiting a local customer care center, or registering your issue online from the comfort of your home, this comprehensive guide covers everything you need to know about contacting GEPCO in 2026.

Official GEPCO Helpline & Emergency Numbers

For immediate assistance regarding line faults, sparking transformers, or sudden power outages, it is highly recommended to use the official toll-free helpline.

  • National WAPDA/DISCO Helpline (Toll-Free): 118

  • SMS Complaint Service: Type your message along with your 14-digit reference number and send it to 8118.

  • GEPCO Headquarters (Gujranwala): 055-9200519 / 055-9200592

  • Ministry of Energy Complaint Cell: 051-9103888

Note: The 118 toll-free helpline is available 24/7. During severe weather conditions (heavy rain or storms), lines may be busy due to high call volumes. In such cases, using the SMS service or online portal is a faster alternative.

How to Register a GEPCO Complaint Online (Step-by-Step)

The Government of Pakistan, through the Ministry of Energy, has launched the Customer Complaint Management System (CCMS). This centralized online portal allows you to register and track your GEPCO complaints without visiting the WAPDA office.

Step 1: Access the CCMS Portal Visit the official CCMS website (ccms.pitc.com.pk) or look for the “Register Complaint” button on our GEPCO portal.

Step 2: Enter Your Reference Number Select “GEPCO” from the list of companies. Enter your 14-digit reference number. The system will automatically fetch your consumer details, name, and address.

Step 3: Select the Complaint Category You will be prompted to choose the nature of your complaint. Categories include:

  • Line Complaints: Power failure, broken wires, low voltage, or transformer issues.

  • Billing Complaints: Overbilling, wrong meter reading, installments, or missing payments.

  • Meter Complaints: Burnt meter, slow/fast meter, or replacement requests.

Step 4: Submit and Track Once you submit the form, the system will generate a unique Complaint Tracking ID. Save this ID. You can enter this ID into the CCMS portal anytime to check the live status of your complaint and see which GEPCO officer is currently handling it.

GEPCO Regional Customer Care Centers

If your issue requires physical documentation (like correcting an overcharged bill or applying for installments), visiting your nearest Customer Care Center is the most effective approach. GEPCO operates regional centers across its entire jurisdiction:

  • Gujranwala Circle: GEPCO Headquarters, 565-A Model Town, Gujranwala.

  • Sialkot Circle: WAPDA Complex, Paris Road, Sialkot.

  • Gujrat Circle: WAPDA Office, Bhimber Road, Gujrat.

  • Hafizabad Circle: GEPCO Complex, Kassoki Road, Hafizabad.

  • Narowal & Mandi Bahauddin: Main subdivision offices located at district headquarters.

Pro Tip: Always bring your original CNIC, a copy of the disputed electricity bill, and clear photographs of your current meter reading when visiting a customer care center for billing disputes.

Common GEPCO Complaints & How to Resolve Them

Different problems require different approaches. Here is the fastest way to resolve the most common GEPCO issues:

1. My bill shows more units than my meter’s current reading. This is an “Overbilling” issue caused by a meter reader’s error.

  • Solution: Do not pay the bill immediately. Take a clear picture of your electricity meter showing the current reading. Visit your local GEPCO subdivision office (SDO). The SDO has the authority to correct the reading on the spot and issue a revised bill.

2. My electricity meter is burnt or completely dead. A dead meter will result in an “Average Bill” next month, which is often much higher than your actual usage.

  • Solution: Immediately submit a written application to your Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) for a meter replacement. GEPCO will issue a Demand Notice for the cost of the new meter. Once paid, the replacement usually takes 1 to 2 weeks.

3. I cannot pay my heavy bill in one go. Can I get installments?

  • Solution: Yes. GEPCO allows bill installments for consumers who cannot afford to clear their dues in a single payment.

    • Bills up to Rs. 10,000: Can be split into installments by your local Assistant Manager (AM) / SDO.

    • Bills up to Rs. 100,000: Require approval from the Deputy Manager (XEN).

    • Bills up to Rs. 500,000: Require approval from the Circle Manager (SE).

Escalation: What if GEPCO Ignores Your Complaint?

If you have registered a complaint with the local subdivision but it remains unresolved for weeks, you have higher authorities to appeal to:

  • NEPRA (National Electric Power Regulatory Authority): If GEPCO is unfairly charging you or refusing to replace a faulty meter, you can file a formal complaint via the NEPRA website (nepra.org.pk). NEPRA takes strict action against distribution companies for violating consumer rights.

  • Wafaqi Mohtasib (Federal Ombudsman): For cases of severe overbilling, harassment by WAPDA staff, or prolonged delays in new connections, filing a case with the Wafaqi Mohtasib is highly effective. The Ombudsman ensures rapid hearings and frequently rules in favor of consumers.
